10 Powerful Lessons I Have Learned As An Entrepreneur

  1. Do What You Love To Do – Being an entrepreneur is definitely not for the lazy or the weary. It’s awesome to be your own boss, but there are going to be ups and downs in the journey. That is why it is so imperative to absolutely love what you do. Don’t just go with what you are talented at. Go with your strengths, but it’s super important for you to love and be passionate about what you do, so that you’ll keep motivated day in and day out. Make Smart Choices
  2. Isolation Can Be Real Unless You Connect With The Best People – My transition from the corporate world to entrepreneurship was a big one. I went from working in an organization with 13,000 people to working for myself. It was a big transition and it will be for you as well. Although I really love working for myself, I learned how necessary it was for me to get around other like minded people. Isolation can be very real in being an entrepreneur, so be sure to surround yourself with awesome people who inspire you, support you and lift you way up.
  3. Evaluate All Opportunities Coming In At You – As you move forward being an entrepreneur, there are going to be lots of opportunities presented to you. You will be asked to do radio interviews, write articles, be part of telesummits and business collaborations. I have learned to take a look at all opportunities that come in, but don’t be too quick making decisions on them. Be sure that the opportunity fits into your business plan of where you want to be in the short term or long term.
  4. Don’t Feel You Need To Be Everywhere On Social Media – During my time as an entrepreneur, I have learned a very powerful lesson. Be open to learning new social media platforms but don’t even try to do all of them. Pick your lane or few lanes and do those platforms really well. Find out where your ideal people hang out and stay there and be really good to them.
  5. Listen To Everyone – But Then Take Ownership In Your Decisions – You are going to get so much advice about what projects you should work on in your business and just what overall direction you should take. I always say to keep your eyes and mind open to hearing what everyone has to say, but be sure to take ownership of any decisions. Meaning, do what you know is right for your business and life.
  6. Focus On Quality Connections Versus The Number of Connections – A great lesson that I learned very quickly in entrepreneurship is not to worry about the number of people around you or the numbers of people following you on social media. Focus passionately on the quality of people that are around you and supporting you. When you do that, you will have awesome success and happiness.
  7. Be Sure Your Brand Represents You – When making decisions in your brand, be sure that everything is a great representation of YOU. Everything from marketing materials to website development. You want to make sure that you are proud of everything in your brand and that it looks and sounds like you, every step of the way.
  8. Don’t Undervalue Your Work – One of the most important things to remember is to never undervalue your work.  The right people will pay you well for your services. Respect yourself. Price your work accordingly.
  9. Be Part Of An Awesome Inner Circle – In order to be your best, you must surround yourself with the best people. Be sure not to only surround yourself with positive people, have a network of resources and those that are smarter than you. It’s so important in entrepreneurship to have that awesome business circle.
  10. Always Remember. Just Be Yourself – Most importantly, always be authentic to who you are. You have amazing gifts to share with the world. That uniqueness that you have should be utilized in your business. Be who you are!
