7 Things You Must Be Committed To When Going For Your Goals

It’s an exciting time of year.  Many of us are formulating our goals for this next year. It’s really motivating to think about and write down the goals of what we want to do and accomplish.  We all have big dreams and it’s exciting to focus on the journey ahead.

However, what I have noticed throughout the years is that many people set awesome intentions but then fall short of meeting their goals. There are many reasons for this and I won’t hit all the reasons in this particular article. However, I see that people who do not achieve their goals often have a lack of focus and/or commitment. Knowing from real life experience, going for large goals takes a ton of commitment! It’s definitely not for the weary and definitely not for people who are lazy!

So as you list out your goals and dreams for this upcoming year, I want to share some of the things I believe you must commit to doing in order for you to succeed.

You have to make the commitment to take positive action steps forward each and every day! Click To Tweet

7 Things You Must Be Committed To Do When Going for Your Large Goals

  1. Developing a Laser Focused Action Plan:  Having a focused goal is fantastic, but you must go the next step! Either alone or with an awesome Mentor or Coach, you need to design a laser-focused action plan. It’s so important to detail out what steps you need to take in order to accomplish your goal.
  2. Taking Massive Action Every Day: In going for your big goals, you need to be committed to taking massive action each day. There is no room or time for laziness. You have to make the commitment to take steps forward each and every day. No excuses.
  3. Moving Forward After Being Challenged:  When going for your big goals, you are going to be challenged and you are going to feel knocked down at times. If you want to achieve your goals and dreams, after getting knocked down, you have to be committed to get back up and take positive actions forward.
  4. Willing to Lose Some Sleep:  Just keeping it real here.  When going for your goals and dreams, at times, you are going to have to sacrifice some sleep. It takes hard work and you are going to have to wake up early and stay up late many times.
  5. Be Adaptable:  When you are going for it in life, you never want to give up on your dream, but you must always be willing to learn and grow and always find ways to work smarter and not harder. Open your mind! Be adaptable and do what it takes to make your dreams happen!
  6. Being Able To Handle The Word ‘No’ And Let It Fuel Your Fire:  When you are going for your large goals, you are going to hear the word ‘no’ at times. Like I said above, going for huge success is not for the weary or the lazy.   You must commit to take any challenging situations and see how you can turn it around. Being told no on something doesn’t mean it won’t happen someday. So use the word ‘no’ as fuel for you to positively move forward and turn things into a big YES.
  7. Getting ‘Real’ About Yourself:  When going for big success, you truly have to get ‘real’ about yourself. It’s so important to know your own strengths, what challenges you have; what you need support with. Without knowing who you are first, you might not know how to best achieve your goals.

It is your time! You deserve great success and happiness. It is time to achieve it! Click To Tweet

Excellent article Cynthia! I agree with all points and personally live #4. Losing sleep is a sacrifice I make with my mind spinning throughout the night, mostly positive! But, I have over 300 employees to keep motivated and moving forward in caring for older adults, so it’s well worth it!!! Happy New Year, 2016 is going to ROCK!!

#2, 5 and 7 have definitely been the game changers for me this year. Setting a goal and acting on it despite things not always going as planned is important as well as getting help for weak spots. I’ve definitely become more adaptable this year and it’s going to help me into my goals for 2016 as well.

You are going to rock it in 2016 Tracy! Thank you so much for your comments!

Excellent points Cynthia. I’ve appreciated hearing you talk about laser focus often. Laser focus is so important and we all need to be brought back on point often. Every one of your ideas here are good and we will all need to put them into practice at some time. I especially find that coming back from a setback is important to remember. And sometimes ‘no’ is temporary. When the timing isn’t right, try again but just not now. And l, as I learned about myself this year, attempts to be sone thing I was never meant to be is just inviting defeat.Get real about yourself is a critical component.

This is a great list Cynthia, and laser focus is the way forward. Energy is a game changer too but this is another list that needs to be shared and shared. Sensible tips that are so often overlooked in life. It is great to be put back on track with a Smart Chic tip.
    All the best

    Dave

Big goals! Big commitment! These are all good tips, Cynthia! Getting ‘Real’ About Yourself (7) is my favourite; I consider it to be an important factor that determines our attitude and our ability to take action when it comes to the other points. By knowing ourselves – an ongoing process – I believe we are much better equipped to assess and deal with our personal challenges or shortcomings when it comes to achieving our goals. Cheers to WOWderful empowering goals for 2016!

Great post, as always, Cynthia!! The ability to keep moving forward when being challenged is so important! Hearing ‘no’ is going to happen but what we choose to do after the ‘no’ is what defines us!
You bring up a good point when you mention that it’s good to have a goal but, along with that goal, we need to take action! Action makes all the difference!
Looking forward to what 2016 brings for both of us!!!
    🙂

I love your list here, Cynthia. Every point is a perfect reminder of what we must do to move forward. I’ve been thinking about what you’ve said though. These principles are effective motivators for even the small goals. For one example – packing Christmas away is a tiny goal, but I find it very depressing to say good bye to the season. I need to ramp up #1, 2, 3, 5, and 7.

Wonderful article, as always. I’m looking forward to learning from you in 2016. Have a blessed and prosperous year.

As always, you nailed it Cynthia. Great list. They are all part of our journey to attain our goals. They all resonated especially #3. Getting back up after being knocked down is essential to anything we commit to attaining in our lives. It is those moments that create our journey.
Great list again and very timely.
