Yesterday, I was taking a trip down memory lane. I was thinking about my life, where I was 20 years ago compared to where I am today. I was thinking about all my life experiences and how they have turned me into the person I am today.
Most people that know me would likely say that I have always had lofty goals and have never been the type of person to shy away from a challenge. In addition, I’ve always had a good head on my shoulders and have made very “smart” decisions in my life. Although I made smart decisions in my 20’s and always had my priorities set straight, now as I make my way towards my 40’s, I see how my perspective has changed on life. How I felt about things as a very young adult has certainly shifted throughout the years.
“Experience” is definitely the building block of the creation of my life. I have come to a point that I know myself so well that I feel there are no additional experiences that I need to build my character. But I also know that it’s important to always learn, always grow. Therefore, I will never be done creating. I just know it will be in a more focused way, and my life will be enriched in ways it never has been before.
Therefore, my thoughts on creating the life you want:
- With all the experiences in your life, it definitely makes you clear of who you are, what you are looking for and what is truly important in life.
- You are never done creating. You should always be learning, evolving and learning from your experiences.
- Just when you think you have it all figured out, realize you “never” know it all. There are always new things you can learn about yourself and others.
- You are the creator of your own life. With smart choices, not being afraid to take risk and always keeping an open mind, you can create the life you want (one experience at a time). =)
Creating the life I want feels much more exciting to me these days because of all the experiences I have had, me knowing what I want and I recognize what is truly important in life. How do you feel about your life and how you want it to be? Are you creating the life you want? ~TheSmartChic 😉
