For my entire life, one of my passions has been physical fitness; exercising and eating healthy.  I basically live a very healthy lifestyle  (but know the importance of treating yourself).  So, a quick story.  I was big into running for years.  I ran cross-country as a kid, logged many miles through college into my adult years. I probably ran 5-6 days per week consistently for 20 years straight.  At some point, my interests turned to different forms of exercise and I stopped running on a regular basis.

For the past month or so, I had been thinking about how much I missed running. So a few weeks ago, I decided to lace up the running shoes and get back out there. I couldn’t believe how hard it was that first day! My breathing was off, I definitely couldn’t go as far as I would have liked and realized how difficult it was to get back into it that first time.

This got me thinking about how difficult it is sometimes for us to take the first step in going towards a goal. Whether it’s running, getting back into the workforce, going back to school or doing spring cleaning.  Whatever it is, isn’t getting started sometimes the most difficult part?

Back to my running 😉 I am not even close to where I want to be, but since I’ve taken that first step, it’s gotten a little easier each time and I’m starting to feel back in the groove again.

So I ask you, what have you been wanting to do, that you haven’t been quite able or willing to get started?  It’s a brand new day, it’s a brand new week!  Take the first step.  You can do it.  Trust me, it’s gets easier!  ~TheSmartChic 😉
